Blackberry Margarita Saturday

This morning I woke up completely stressed and nervous for no apparent reason. That’s simply no way to be on a Saturday. That calls for margaritas. I took the advice of my shiny new anxiety management app (it’s called SAM in case anyone’s interested) and took a “pop to the shop” (it’s also British and adorable!) to gather supplies. For some reason, I’m suddenly very into blackberries. I just realized you can get them as a topping at Culver’s and it’s been a total custard game changer. I went with that, grabbed a pineapple and ended up with:

Blackberry Pineapple Margaritas

What you’ll need:

  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/3 cup fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar (plus some extra if you want to use it on the rim of your glass)
  • 1/4 cup Triple Sec
  • 1 cup tequila (I actually used Malibu Red, a Malibu rum/tequila combo, which I highly recommend, but if coconut’s not your thing, you probably want to stick with the regular stuff)
  • ice

What you’ll do:

  • combine the lime juice, pineapple juice and blackberries in a blender until smooth
  • in an ideal world, you would now strain your fruit mixture to get rid of those pesky blackberry seeds (I didn’t think of this but quit noticing them after the first margarita, so the ball’s in your court on this one)
  • put the blackberry mixture, sugar, Triple Sec and tequila in your blender
  • fill it with ice (or don’t if you like them just on the rocks. I like frozen margaritas because I get less heartburn from them. I’m old, guys.)
  • blend it up and pour into a chilled, sugar rimmed glass

Now, drink up and forget why you were stressed in the first place. IT’S SATURDAY. And plus, there’s fruit in there, so … yay health?
