Well, not to you (or maybe not anyway, I can’t keep up with everything), but at least to Justin and I. Today is our 14th wedding anniversary and since Justin beat me to the sweet Facebook post, I’ve chosen to write a blog post about it. That’s right, a whole post. Many words. Because what is marriage but a series of attempted one-upsmanship, right?
Kidding! I’m totally kidding. Especially since Justin so rarely posts anything personal (or just anything) on Facebook that he would still win this one by a landslide. He even thought to use our wedding picture and everything. He did good.
Don’t worry, I’m not saying anything too sappy since, if you’ve met us, you know that’s just not really what we do. Like, ever. We show our love through somewhat sarcastic jokes to each other, by talking about lots of wrestling (again, check out that podcast! Married…with Wrestling) and, in Brody’s words, being weird. He also reaches things on high shelves and changes all the light bulbs for me. (I married a tall person for a reason.)
We’re pretty lucky to have each other even though we, of course, occasionally make each other bananas. I drive him crazy because I refuse to ask for help even when I clearly need it and apparently open cereal boxes “like a wild animal.” He drives me crazy because he can’t find things in his direct line of vision and doesn’t realize when the garbage needs to be taken out even when it’s spilling onto the floor. (C’mon!)
Even given those instances, I can say with certainty that I’m very thankful we found each other and I’m going to assume he feels the same way, since we’re pretty damn co-dependent.
Here’s to many more!
