Testing, testing…

So, it’s been a little while. Why?

Well, there’s been a lot of hockey, especially Predators hockey, on television (Conference Finals, wooo!). And a new craft  beer place opened in town. (The Dam Brewhaus, check it out if you’re local!)

We’ve also fixed our toilet (ALL BY OURSELVES) and I am attempting to start a garden.

Things have clearly been very, very busy. (I can’t lie, mostly with the hockey and brewhaus, but the other things sound way more adult.)

It’s also been testing week at Brody’s school which always throws our household into a bit of chaos. Because they ask that the children have a real breakfast (don’t worry, my child always leaves the house with a full belly, it’s just usually Eggos), a full night of sleep and actually arrive at school on time. What kind of super powers do these people think I have?!!

As you may remember, I’m not exactly a morning person, so most days Brody and I arrive at the school drop-off at 7:54 a.m. 7:55 a.m. is the when the door shuts. We have it down to an art. It’s really a thing of beauty.

Except they like them to be there by 7:50 a.m. this one particular week. And, as any good procrastinator knows, four minutes is a crucial amount of time. It’s usually my sock finding time (seriously, where does he put the other half of his socks?) and it has taken everything I’ve had to get us out the door on time, but somehow we’ve made it. Even a little early on a couple of days.

I have also managed to cook an actual breakfast for both my guys every morning this week. (Feel free to message me to find out where to send any awards I might now be in the running for.) The only way I’ve managed to do that is by cheating a little and just making breakfast quesadillas. They’ve been the MVP of this week. My recipe is scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, Canadian bacon, just bacon and roasted red peppers in whole wheat tortillas. Super easy and awesome.

I’ve been on time, fixed breakfast and, except for one night when some cats decided to use our front porch for their own personal love connection, Brody has gone to bed early and actually slept every night this week. Testing week miracles, all of them. A rare series of morning successes for this household. Hallelujah!

Also, the Predators managed to finish up their second round series on Sunday, actually making this all possible. There’s no way my child was going to be able to sleep with Preds Stanley Cup hockey happening, so thanks guys!
